NFPA 1977-2005 and ASTM F 2413-05
The Fire Hiker was developed in cooperation with
U.S Wildland Specialists and features an all new design to fulfill all
needs of wildland firefighters. The Fire Hiker is certified to both
NFPA 1977-2005 for wildland firefighting as well as to ASTM F2413-05 for
footwear protection.
The 9” Fire Hiker is constructed with HAIX’s new Sun Reflect leather
that reduces the heating effect of the leather by direct sunlight
while at the same time providing leather that is water resistant and
breathable. The Fire Hiker features a newly developed sole that is
high-heat resistant, has non heat transferring puncture resistance, a
specially designed heel for superior footholds on steep and uneven
terrain, and lip edge in the rear heel area for easy removal of boots.
The composite toe cap does not transfer heat or get hot as well. This
new innovative design provides all day wearing comfort. An ideal boot
for dual cert wildland station/duty pants. HAIX® Secura LinerTM: Footwear inner liner which will never pull out or wrinkle over time; lining is firmly secured and sealed along with upper leather beneath the sole. Waterproof, breathable, 4 layers with inner Cambrelle lining which is highly abrasion resistant as well as softly padded with breathable foam.
HAIX® Sun Reflect Leather: Reduces the heating effect of the upper leather by direct sunlight. Sunlight is reflected by the leather, keeping the leather and the feet cooler.
HAIX® Climate System: Permits air circulation with every step – moist air is released and fresh air comes in through the vent holes at the top of the boot.
HAIX® MSL System: Stands for Micro Soft Light which is extremely light weight foam injected into the sole to provide exceptional shock absorption and superior heat/cold insulation. Long lasting system which has been proven to last the lifetime of the boot.
All Leather Upper: Waterproof, hydrophobic, and breathable leather, 2.5-2.7 mm thick.
Leg Height: 9 inch
Sole: Uniquely designed rubber nitrile sole with a stable non-slipping sole edge for uneven terrain. The honeycomb tread pattern and blue suction cups offer excellent traction on slick and wet surfaces. Ladder bar treads in the joint area for stability on ladder rungs. Oil and fuel resistant, non-chalky, and self cleaning.
Protective toe cap: Non-heat transferring, non-mettalic, composite toe cap which meets ASTM F 2413-05 standard for personal protection – protective footwear.
Puncture Resistance: Non-heat transferring composite puncture resistance.
Integrated Bootjack: Specially designed lip edge in the rear heel area for easy removal of boots.
Heel Grip: Specially designed heel for superior footholds on steep and uneven terrain.
Insole: New softly cushioned insole for long wearing comfort. Insoles are quick change, machine washable with excellent moisture absorption and quick drying qualities.
Footbed: Anatomically formed, Texon (fleece) that absorbs moisture and provides additional foot and ankle support.
Threads & Laces: All threads and laces are of flame retardant Nomex. All Haix boots come laced up.
Extended Wear Program: Out of warranty footwear can be refurbished with original factory parts through a resole package. This package includes any necessary replacement or repair of stitching, profiled rubber toe caps, soles, and insoles. Footwear will be cleaned and deodorized
